Goonie's Garage Policies.


Goonie's Garage is open 9-6 Tuesday through Friday for drop off and pickup.   


We are not open for walk in quotes or questions.  

 In person quotes and questions can be scheduled in advance.  


-All appointments and quotes are made through email now.   Calls with questions are welcomed but we will likely still ask you to email us so I can price out repairs or set up an appointment later when I have a free moment.   Often I need to look up prices to answer your questions properly.  Greg may answer the phone and give you the email address.   Quote and appointment address is goonies.quote@gmail.com   Some emails can take a few days to be returned.   I set aside Mondays for me to catch up on emails and that's if my Monday is free.  I still lose emails or overlook them.   So bumping them occasionally is AOK.


Goonie's Garage does not install customer supplied parts.   We install what we sell and that's how it goes.   If we don't sell it, we likely don't want to install it.   Either because we consider it subpar or we can not get it.   People never buy the right stuff anyway and I do not have time to fix and find what you incorrectly bought.   It is a waste of time we do not have.  To be honest?  You will not save any money by bringing your own parts.  We do our best to price match whenever possible or work within your budget.


Goonie's Garage does not install parts based on other shops diagnosis.   We ESPECIALLY do not install parts due to a customers diagnosis.   You think you need an ECM or a module or a suspension part?   Awesome, you figured it out.   Do it yourself.   We will not simply make repairs for customers because they want them done UNLESS we diagnose the issue ourselves.  Again, you will save no money by thinking you diagnosed your Jeep first.


Goonie's Garage does sell NEW parts over the counter.  You want  TeraFlex Suspensions, Clayton Off Road Rough Country, Wheel Pros USA, Quadratec, Northridge4x4, Safe T Cap, Revolution Gear & Axle etc over the counter?  If we have it or can get it we will sell it.  Often at a discounted rate.  I will price match or try to beat any price I am financially able to.  We also occasionally list brand new parts on our for sale page at Goonie's Garage Sale  Look there regularly for overstock and open box items for a discount.

Goonie's Garage does NOT sell USED Jeep parts over the counter.  Yes we have a huge Jeep bone yard.   But it is there for paying customer repairs.   Too many people waste our time looking for  small parts and never show up.   Or break the parts and think we will warranty the broken part.    We ONLY sell used parts with install here in the shop.   Used parts will come with a 30-90 day part and labor warranty.   The ONLY used items we sell over the counter can be found listed on the Goonie's Garage Sale Facebook group when we are cleaning house.   If it's not listed, it's not for sale.   Please don't ask.

With the growing workload and requests we are shrinking the Jeep models we get involved in.   Jeep XJ, MJ, YJ, TJ, LJ, ZJ, WJ, JK, JL and JT are our areas of expertise.   We do very select work on WKs and WK2s and the other Jeep models.   With rust, age and scarcity of parts are not working on CJs and old FSJ Jeeps really anymore.   But some select work we will tackle like lift kits, wheel and tires.

We are not a restoration shop.   We do not do paint and body work.   Our frame and rust repairs are exclusive to YJ, TJ and LJs.   Select floor pan repairs on body on frame Jeeps like the YJ, TJ and LJ.   We do not do any rust repair, floor board repair on unibody Jeeps like the XJ or ZJ.   This policy is on a vehicle by vehicle basis.   But pretty much sums it up.  Frame coatings are exclusive to repairs only.   

In response to constant requests for TJ and YJ frame quotes.   We CAN NOT quote you over the phone, by description, by email or photos.   Frame repair quotes are FREE if we are doing a quick inspection and verbal quote.   If you want it in writing or want an all encompassing quote including general repairs in writing and refuse the repairs there is a fee for the time spent doing a full vehicle inspection.   This ranges in cost from $80-$150.   That estimate can be waived if repairs are approved.   This policy is due to people asking for us to spend 1-2 hours on inspection, price quoting and estimate writing and then turning down any repairs.   Our time is not free.

ALL vehicles are to be dropped off for repairs, quotes or warranty work.   We do not have a waiting room and you will have to make arrangements to get your vehicle here and get home.   We have people coming from the city, upstate and Conn,   People make arrangements.   So please consider this when you tell us you have to come all the way from Bayshore or Riverhead.   People in the city have little issues making it work.


We reserve the right to turn down any repairs to your Jeep.   If we feel that working on your Jeep is fiscally irresponsible we will tell you no.   If we feel that working on your Jeep is a pandora's box we will tell you no.   No you can not sign a waiver.   No you can not pass go.   We will not ignore safety issues because you are on a budget or broke.  For our safety and others as well as liability reasons sometimes we just need to say "NO".


Diagnostics.   They are not free and they are not cheap.  If you have spent a ton of money with 1 or more other shops chasing a problem and we are your last resort we reserve the right to tell you that we are not interested in adding our name to the list of people involved in your issues.   Far too often we are the last call after many people have fired a parts cannon at your Jeep.   What you have spent foolishly with other shops is not and never will be our problem.  If we say yes we will make it clear that we will ignore all previous repairs done by you or the other 1,2,3 or more shops and reserve the right to tear out all the Autozone crap they or you installed.  We will start diagnostics at square one and assume there are multiple new man made issues now present.  For this reason we offer tell customers we are not interested in working on your Jeep.


We are not a free diagnostic call center.   You can try but you will not get far.   We do get a lot of calls with people asking "What do you think the fix would be?"   We likely know.   But we earned that knowledge.   We are more than happy to set you up with an appointment and confirm your issue with our hard earned expertise.   But you will not drag that info out of us over the phone or by stopping by.  We get paid for our time and knowledge.  


At this time we are not doing alignments unless we are doing repairs or a lift kit install.   I just do not have the time to do an alignment on a Jeep you and some friends lifted over the weekend.   Or installed new steering on to chase an issue.   We will do alignments as maintenance for existing customers and if an alignment is recommended for diagnostic reasons.  Or after we do repairs.  Or if in addition to other repairs.  We are still the best place on Long Island to diagnose death wobble and stock almost all the needed parts for 99.9% of death wobble causes.   So death wobble diagnostics and repairs are very welcomed.   But please do ask us to diagnose an issue on your Jeep after you tossed $100 worth of Chinese Rock Auto parts at it.


It's a long policy list.   But we felt it needed to be posted in writing.
These policies are to help streamline the workload and save you the customer and us the business the time of explaining it on the phone, by email or in person.  They may seem a bit pushy or extreme.   But our loyal customer base has been happy with it so far.  It may come off as a bit brash to some.   But it seems to be working for us.
